The Long Island Sound remained undefeated and took over first place by themselves in the United Women's Lacrosse League after defeating the Boston Storm 12-9. Halle Majorna scored three goals and Devon Wills picked up the win in the cage.
Taryn Van Thof also scored two goals, while Katrina Dowd added two points. Nine players in all contributed points to keep Long Island as the only undefeated team left in the league.
After being tied 3-3, the Sound scored four straight to lead 7-3. Boston went on a three-goal run in response, but couldn't get any further and took the 12-9 loss.
Danielle Etrasco scored a hat trick, while Kayla Treanor scored two goals and two assists to lead the Storm.
The Baltimore Ride faced the Philadelphia Force from St. Joseph's University at the same time, with the Ride winning their first game in franchise history. Alex Aust scored five goals and an assist to lead Baltimore.
The 15-11 victory for Baltimore comes after two one-goal losses. Dana Dobbie led the way with three assists and had a goal, while Katie Schwarzmann, Courtney Swan, and Eric Bodt each found the back of the net.
Frankie Caridi picked up her first win net for Baltimore. Michelle Tumolo and Hilary Bowen each scored a goal and an assist for the Force.
Next week, it's rematches from the week two contests, and Boston will face Baltimore for the second time this season. The last time the two teams faced off, the Storm came out on top with a 17-16 victory. Philadelphia will seek its first win of the season when they face the undefeated Sound. Both games will be played at Lehigh University, which was the host site of the first games in week one.
