  • The chaos continued in NEWHA as Assumption split their series with Stonehill. The Skyhawks are second in the conference with 15 points while the Greyhounds are a single point behind. Assumption are the surprise of the year in NEWHA so far and they keep taking points off teams and proving they're in this for the long haul.
  • Things at the top of the ECAC did not get any clearer this week after some of the top teams played each other. Overtime and ties abounded and now there are three teams within 1.5 points of each other in the standings (yes, the ECAC uses half points). Quinnipiac leads with 12.5, followed by Cornell and St. Lawrence with 12 points, Clarkson with 11.5 points and Princeton with 11.
  • Northeastern is atop the Hockey East standings on the strength of a weekend sweep of Vermont. Boston College sits just one point back after splitting the weekend against Connecticut (thanks to a last season beauty of a goal listed below). The rest of the conference matchups ended as splits, adding to the uncertainty of how things will shake out here. There just does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to why one team is able to defeat another and no one seems to be able to do it with consistency. The constant fighting for position will be fun to watch.
  • Anecdotal more than researched, but it seems like the goalies are having a really strong start to the season. I feel like I keep reading about someone setting a new career record in saves in a game and every overtime feels like it's being won by a single person scoring out of six combined chances.
  • The collegiate players really stood out in the Rivalry Series as Ève Gascon got her first start for Canada, Abbey Murphy tallied a hat trick last Thursday and added an assist on Saturday, Laila Edwards had a goal and three assists on the weekend and Tessa Janecke and KK Harvey each had an assist Saturday.
  • Goals of the week:

Ava Thomas' game-winner for Boston College with 3.3 left on the clock

The way Shelby Sandburg takes the turnover and turns straight to net here for Bemidji State

Alexa Davis' breakway for St. Lawrence

The very definition of a bar-down beauty

The blue line save, the batted puck in the air, the passing and the finish from national scoring leader Kahlen Lamarche

Nothing like a wraparound overtrime game winner for the first career goal for Princeton's Riley Sorokan
