There are three games today! The last three regular season games of the second season of the PWHL! The third PWHL season will have EIGHT teams!
Women’s. Hockey.
Here’s what we’re thinking about today’s games:
Saturday, May 3 at 12 p.m. Eastern
Ottawa Charge at Toronto Sceptres
Scenario: Ottawa wins in regulation, secures their spot in the playoffs, and effectively eliminates the Minnesota Frost from contention. This would also cement the Montréal Victoire as the number one seed.
That’s the simplest one, so we hope it happens.
If it doesn’t… well, the other two games become a lot more impactful. The Frost could sneak into the final playoff spot ahead of the Charge. Toronto could clinch the number one seed and have their choice of semifinal opponent if New York wins against the Victoire.
LFG.

Saturday, May 3 at 1 p.m. Eastern
Minnesota Frost at Boston Fleet
Big game for both teams. Huge.
Boston playoff scenarios:
- Boston earns at least a single point against Minnesota, OR
- Ottawa loses to Toronto
Boston elimination scenario:
- Boston loses in regulation AND Ottawa wins
Minnesota playoff scenarios:
- Minnesota wins in regulation against Boston, OR
- Minnesota wins in overtime/shootout AND Ottawa loses in regulation to Toronto
Minnesota elimination scenarios:
- Minnesota loses to Boston, OR
- Minnesota wins in overtime/shootout AND Ottawa earns at least a point
The drama of this game overlapping with the Charge at Sceptres game! The Frost finding out in real time if they control their own destiny (Ottawa loss) or if their fate has been decided…

Montréal Victoire at New York Sirens
Something about the (current) first-place Victoire playing the already-eliminated Sirens is so sad. Montréal is already headed to the postseason, and New York has already secured the top pick in the order of selection for the 2025 PWHL Draft. They earned three Draft Order Points in their win over Minnesota on April 27.
If Montréal loses this game in regulation, and Toronto wins their game in regulation, the Sceptres would clinch the number one seed over the Victoire (the standings points tiebreaker goes to regulation wins)! The apparently unstoppable force ceding the top spot on the last day of the season… peak storytelling.
Quickly(ish), we want to shout out Sirens' goaltender Corinne Schroeder (or Shutout Schroeds as we call her) for making PWHL history Sunday in the Sirens’ 2-0 victory over the Frost. By a second consecutive shutout for the second time this season, she became the first goaltender to record four in a campaign – surpassing the three Toronto’s Kristen Campbell compiled during the PWHL’s inaugural season.
